A Cosmic Return to Music
After a period of intense public and legal scrutiny, Atlanta rap innovator Young Thug has made his official return to the music scene with the release of his fourth studio album, UY Scuti. Dropped on September 26, 2025, the project marks his first full-length album since being released from jail in October 2024. The album’s title is a nod to one of the largest known stars in the universe, a name Thug chose to reflect his own stature in the music world. “I just feel big, you know… I feel like I’m one of the biggest stars,” he explained in a recent interview. “I’m out of this world.”
The album follows his 2023 project, Business Is Business, which was released while he was still incarcerated and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart with 89,000 album-equivalent units earned. Sources suggest UY Scuti is a more deliberate and polished effort, serving as a definitive statement on his recent experiences and artistic vision.
Star-Studded Features and a Personal Tracklist
Released through YSL Records, Atlantic Records, and 300 Entertainment, UY Scuti boasts an impressive 18-track list filled with high-profile collaborations. The album features a diverse array of artists, showcasing Thug’s wide-ranging influence. The guest list includes Cardi B, Travis Scott, Future, 21 Savage, T.I., Sexyy Red, Ken Carson, and even his girlfriend, Mariah the Scientist, on the personal track “Dreams Rarely Do Come True.”

A Tumultuous and Calculated Rollout
The journey to UY Scuti‘s release has been anything but quiet. The album was preceded by two key singles: the Future-assisted “Money on Money” in April and the deeply introspective “Miss My Dogs” earlier in September. The latter track served as a public apology to collaborators like Drake, Lil Baby, and Gucci Mane, as well as Mariah the Scientist, following the leak of personal phone calls made during his time in jail.
The album also faced several delays. Initially slated for a September 19 release, Young Thug postponed it by a week out of respect for Cardi B, who dropped her album Am I the Drama? on that day. “Yall know I wasn’t dropping Friday. It’s a ladies day,” he wrote on social media, to which Cardi B replied with encouragement. This move was seen by many as a gesture of industry solidarity.
Rivalry and Respect
Adding another layer of intrigue, UY Scuti dropped on the same day as ALREADY LEGEND., the new album from fellow Atlanta rapper and longtime rival YFN Lucci, who also features on Thug’s track “Whaddup Jesus.” The days leading up to the release saw the two artists trading jabs on social media, reigniting a beef that dates back to 2017. However, this public friction contrasts with earlier statements from Thug in an interview where he claimed there was no ill will, stating, “I pray that ni**a get everything he deserve,” as reported by digitaltrendstoday.com.
Beyond the music, the album launch is accompanied by an exclusive SP5DER merchandise collection, available through various outlets, and will be followed by a headlining performance at ComplexCon in Las Vegas on October 25-26, 2025. Ultimately, UY Scuti stands as a bold artistic statement from Young Thug, channeling a turbulent chapter of his life into a powerful and star-studded musical comeback.
