Willy Adames Ignites Giants Offense, Solidifying Impact After Landmark Contract

San Francisco, CA – Shortstop Willy Adames has been a driving force for the San Francisco Giants, showcasing his offensive prowess and extending a notable hitting streak. In Sunday’s 6-2 victory over the Athletics, Adames delivered a solo home run and contributed three RBIs, twice drawing bases-loaded walks to force in runs. This performance further cemented his current hot streak, which now stands at seven consecutive games.

During this impressive seven-game stretch, Adames has been exceptionally productive, going 11-for-26 (.423) at the plate. His recent surge includes four extra-base hits, nine RBIs, and four walks, demonstrating a keen eye and power at the plate. For the 2025 season, Adames’ statistics reflect his growing impact, with a slash line of .226/.313/.370, accumulating 11 home runs, 45 RBIs, 50 runs scored, and four stolen bases through 90 contests. His overall OPS stands at .683.

Adames, 29, joined the San Francisco Giants after signing a significant free-agent contract on December 10, 2024, following a standout tenure with the Milwaukee Brewers. His journey in Major League Baseball began with the Tampa Bay Rays, who signed him as an international free agent in 2012. He made his MLB debut with the Rays in 2018, quickly establishing himself as a promising talent before being traded to the Brewers in May 2021. In Milwaukee, Adames blossomed into a fan favorite and a cornerstone of their lineup, earning the Brewers’ Most Valuable Player award in both 2021 and 2022.

The 2024 season was particularly remarkable for Adames during his time with the Brewers. He set career highs in multiple offensive categories, including runs (93), doubles (33), home runs (32), RBIs (112), and stolen bases (21). His 112 RBIs as a shortstop led all of Major League Baseball, and he tied Ken Griffey Jr.’s 1996 record for the most three-run home runs in a single season with 13. Adames also became only the fourth player in Brewers history to achieve a 30-homer, 20-stolen base season, joining an elite group that includes Tommy Harper, Ryan Braun, and Christian Yelich. His exceptional performance earned him a 10th-place finish in the National League MVP voting and the Brewers’ Good Guy Award. On September 2, 2024, he tied an MLB shortstop record by hitting a home run in five consecutive games, a feat shared with baseball legends like Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter’s former teammate, Tyler Fitzgerald.

The San Francisco Giants’ commitment to Adames is evident in his landmark seven-year, $182 million contract, which includes a $22 million signing bonus and a full no-trade clause. This deal, which runs through the 2031 season, represents the largest contract ever awarded by the Giants organization, underscoring their belief in his long-term value and leadership.

With a career batting average of .246, 161 home runs, 517 RBIs, and 55 stolen bases across 3,559 at-bats, Adames brings a potent combination of power, on-base skills, and solid defense to the Giants. As he continues to build on his recent success and settle into his role as the team’s primary shortstop, Willy Adames is poised to be a pivotal figure in the San Francisco Giants’ pursuit of contention for years to come.
