Two Winners Split $1.787B Powerball Jackpot

A Historic Win Ends Three-Month Drought

After weeks of mounting excitement and a record-tying winless streak, the colossal $1.787 billion Powerball jackpot has finally been won. Two lucky ticket holders, one from Missouri and another from Texas, matched all six numbers in the Saturday, September 6, 2025, drawing, ending a jackpot run that spanned over three months and 42 drawings.

The monumental prize, the second-largest in the game’s history, was claimed with the following winning numbers:

  • White Balls: 11, 23, 44, 61, 62
  • Red Powerball: 17

The two winners will split the grand prize, with each ticket worth an annuitized $893.5 million. Each winner now faces a life-altering decision: receive the prize as an annuity paid out in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or opt for a one-time lump sum payment of approximately $410.3 million before taxes.

The Lucky Locations Revealed

Lottery officials have announced the locations where the golden tickets were sold. The Missouri Lottery confirmed on Monday that its winning ticket was purchased at the QuikTrip convenience store located at 12110 Lusher Road in St. Louis.

“It was a record-setting night for the Missouri Lottery, with the $893.5 million prize ranking as the highest jackpot prize won in Missouri to date,” said Missouri Lottery Executive Director Lester Elder in a press release. He noted that this win shatters the state’s previous record of $293.7 million from a Powerball drawing in November 2012. The Missouri winner has until March 5, 2026, to claim their prize.

The second winning ticket was sold in Texas at Big’s 103, a gas station and convenience store in the city of Fredericksburg, about 75 miles west of Austin.

A Record-Tying Jackpot Run

The massive prize was the result of a long and suspenseful rollover period. The jackpot had not been won since May 31, 2025, when a single ticket in California claimed a $204.5 million prize. Since then, the grand prize rolled over 41 consecutive times, fueling a nationwide lottery fever as the prize pool crossed the billion-dollar mark.

Saturday’s drawing was the 42nd in the run, officially tying the game’s record for the most consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner, as reported by digitaltrendstoday.com. The astronomical odds of winning the grand prize stand at approximately 1 in 292.2 million.

Jackpots Reset as Other Prizes Grow

While the spotlight was on the two jackpot winners, the September 6 drawing created numerous other millionaires. According to lottery officials, 20 tickets matched all five white balls to win the game’s second-tier prize. Two of those winners, one in Kansas and one in Texas, had purchased the Power Play option, doubling their prize to $2 million each.

Following the massive win, the Powerball jackpot has reset. After no winner was declared for the Monday, September 8 drawing, the grand prize for the next drawing on Wednesday, September 10, is an estimated $33 million, with a cash value of $15.2 million.

Meanwhile, the Mega Millions jackpot continues to grow. The estimated grand prize for the drawing on Tuesday, September 9, has reached $358 million, with a cash option of $164.5 million.
