Tottenham Hotspur Faces Luton Town in Key Pre-Season Friendly Amidst Unique Double-Header

Tottenham Hotspur is set to continue its pre-season preparations under new manager Thomas Frank, facing Luton Town in a friendly match on Saturday, July 26, 2025. The encounter at Kenilworth Road, scheduled for a 3:00 PM BST kick-off (10:00 AM ET, 7:30 PM IST, 12:00 AM AEST), marks a significant step in Spurs’ build-up to the new season.

This fixture against Luton Town, who have experienced back-to-back relegations and now find themselves in League One, is part of a unique double-header for Tottenham. Earlier on Saturday, at 11:00 AM BST, a separate Spurs squad will play another League One side, Wycombe Wanderers, in a behind-closed-doors match at Hotspur Way. This strategic scheduling aims to maximize match minutes for the entire squad.

Explaining the decision, Thomas Frank told the club website, as reported by ESPN and football.london, “We wanted an extra game in our schedule to give as many players as many match minutes as possible, in order to put them in the best position, physically. We will play two even, strong teams and they will play between 60 and 75 minutes, maybe more. By the end of Saturday, 22 players will have played a lot of match minutes, and they will be in a very good place before we go on tour.”

For the Luton Town clash, Tottenham’s confirmed starting XI, as announced by Tottenham Hotspur’s official site, features Guglielmo Vicario as captain, alongside Spence, Danso, van de Ven, Udogie; Bissouma, Gray, and summer addition Mohammed Kudus making his first start. The attacking line-up includes Brennan Johnson, Mathys Tel, and Mikey Moore. Notably, Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert return from their extended break following the UEFA European U21 Championship, with Tel immediately integrated into the starting eleven. Dominic Solanke and James Maddison are absent from this particular squad, with Heung-Min Son and Cristian Romero present at Hotspur Way, likely participating in the earlier Wycombe fixture.

This match follows Tottenham’s 2-0 pre-season opening win against Reading. The arrival of Thomas Frank has brought a fresh dynamic to Spurs, with several players vying for starting positions. The pre-season friendlies are crucial for the new manager to assess his squad and implement his tactical vision before the competitive season begins.

Fans looking to watch the match have several options. In the UK and globally, the game will be available live on Tottenham’s in-house streaming service, Spursplay, which offers a season pass for £45. For viewers in the United States, the match can be streamed via FuboTV and DirecTV, and will also be broadcast on FOX Deportes. Other international broadcasters include Coupang Play in South Korea, Sport 1 in Israel, and SPORT TV2 in Portugal. Additionally, ESPN will provide live updates.

These pre-season fixtures are vital for Tottenham as they prepare to embark on their pre-season tour, aiming to build cohesion and fitness under their new leadership.
