In a highly anticipated media crossover, pop superstar Taylor Swift joined Travis and Jason Kelce for her first-ever appearance on their wildly popular “New Heights” podcast on Wednesday, August 13, using the platform to announce her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
The reveal was a highlight of the episode, which streamed on YouTube and other platforms. Swift presented a vinyl record, its cover art blurred, from a mint green briefcase, officially confirming the album’s title. The announcement followed a series of her signature “Easter eggs,” including a mysterious countdown clock on her website set against a glittering orange background and social media posts from her marketing team heavily featuring the number 12 and the color orange. According to Digital Trends Today, the album is now available for pre-order, with a placeholder artwork of a mint green square and an orange lock. While a specific release date has not been set, the pre-orders are expected to ship before October 13, 2025.
This marks Swift’s first original album since she regained full ownership of her master recordings in May 2025. It follows her record-breaking 2024 album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”
During the podcast, Swift shared insights into her relationship with Travis Kelce and her newfound passion for football. She recounted a story from their first date where she asked what she now considers an “insane question” about Travis lining up against his brother Jason in Super Bowl 57, not realizing both play on offense. “He didn’t even look at me,” she recalled, laughing about her initial lack of football knowledge. Since then, her understanding has grown immensely. “I became a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy,’” she said, referencing the Chiefs’ 2024 first-round draft pick.
Jason Kelce praised her genuine interest, noting, “You had asked some of the best questions when we’re up in the booth.” Swift also expressed her admiration for the dedication of NFL players. “I love this new world that Travis has shown me,” she said, as reported by USA TODAY. “There’s so much pressure on these players… The pressure on sports is just such a different type that I have such a respect for everyone.”
The appearance comes as Travis Kelce himself reflects on his dual life as an athlete and entertainer. In a recent GQ cover story, the 35-year-old tight end acknowledged that his on-field production may have “slipped a little bit” over the past two seasons. His 2024 season saw him record 823 receiving yards and three touchdowns, his lowest totals since his injury-shortened rookie year. In 2023, his record-setting streak of seven consecutive 1,000-yard seasons came to an end.
“I did have a little bit more focus in trying to set myself up,” Kelce told the magazine, referencing his ventures into acting with roles in “Grotesquerie” and “Happy Gilmore 2.” Despite the statistical dip, his star has never been brighter, fueled by his high-profile relationship and the success of the “New Heights” podcast, which secured a reported $100 million deal with Amazon’s Wondery in August 2024. Kelce added that Swift has become “the most engulfed fan now,” deeply invested in the sport.
The podcast episode, uniting the worlds of music, sports, and pop culture, has already become one of the most talked-about media events of the year, amplifying the already immense anticipation for Swift’s next musical era.
