Powerball Winning Numbers Drawn for $750 Million Jackpot, the 10th Largest in History

The winning numbers have been drawn for the Powerball jackpot, which soared to an estimated $750 million for the Monday, August 25, 2025, drawing. This grand prize ranks as the 10th largest in the history of the game, capturing the attention of lottery players nationwide.

The winning numbers for Monday night’s drawing were 16, 19, 34, 37, and 64, with the red Powerball number being 22. The Power Play multiplier, which can increase non-jackpot prizes, was 3x. The jackpot carries a one-time cash value option of approximately $338.6 million before taxes. It is not yet known if any tickets sold matched all six numbers to claim the grand prize.

The jackpot reached this monumental figure after no ticket matched all six numbers in the preceding drawing on Saturday, August 23. That drawing, for an estimated $700 million, did produce several big winners. According to the official Powerball website, a ticket sold in South Dakota matched all five white balls and included the Power Play option, securing a $2 million prize. Additionally, two other tickets, one sold in Maine and another in New York, matched the five white balls to win $1 million each.

The grand prize has been steadily growing for nearly three months, consistently rolling over since it was last won on Saturday, May 31, 2025. In that drawing, a single ticket sold in California claimed a jackpot worth an estimated $204.5 million. Since then, a series of drawings without a top winner has fueled the prize’s climb into the top ten, as reported by CBS News and other outlets.

Powerball drawings are held three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m. ET. Tickets, which cost $2 per play, are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. To play, participants select five numbers from a pool of 1 to 69 for the white balls and one number from 1 to 26 for the red Powerball.

For an additional dollar per play, participants can add optional features to enhance their potential winnings. The Power Play feature can multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10 times. The 10x multiplier is only available when the advertised jackpot is $150 million or less. The Match 5 prize of $1 million is automatically doubled to $2 million if the Power Play is purchased, regardless of the multiplier drawn. In some states, players can also opt for the Double Play add-on for another dollar, which enters their numbers into a separate drawing with a top cash prize of $10 million.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338. However, the overall odds of winning any prize are significantly better at approximately 1 in 24.9, with prizes ranging from $4 to the grand prize. Jackpot winners have the choice between receiving their prize as a 30-year graduated annuity, where payments increase by 5% each year, or as a one-time, lump-sum cash payment. Both prize options are subject to federal and jurisdictional taxes. All players are encouraged to check their tickets carefully and play responsibly.
