Powerball Jackpot Soars to $750 Million for Monday’s Drawing

The Powerball jackpot has surged to an estimated $750 million after no ticket matched all six numbers in the drawing on Saturday, August 23, 2025. The grand prize for the next drawing on Monday, August 25, now ranks as the 10th largest in the game’s history, carrying a substantial one-time cash value option of approximately $338.6 million before taxes.

The winning numbers for the Saturday night drawing were 11, 14, 34, 47, and 51, with the red Powerball number being 18. The Power Play multiplier was 2x. While the estimated $700 million jackpot went unclaimed, the drawing produced several significant winners across the country. According to the official Powerball website, a ticket sold in South Dakota matched all five white balls and included the Power Play option, securing a $2 million prize. Additionally, two tickets, one in Maine and one in New York, matched the five white balls to win $1 million each.

The jackpot has been steadily growing for nearly three months, consistently rolling over since it was last won on Saturday, May 31, 2025. In that drawing, a single ticket sold in California claimed a grand prize worth an estimated $204.5 million, as reported by USA TODAY. Since then, a series of drawings without a top winner has fueled the prize’s climb into the top ten, capturing national attention.

How to Play Powerball

Powerball drawings are held three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m. ET. Tickets cost $2 per play and are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

To play, participants select five numbers from a pool of 1 to 69 and one red Powerball number from a pool of 1 to 26. Players can choose their own numbers on a play slip or opt for a “Quick Pick” to have the numbers randomly generated by a lottery terminal.

For an additional dollar per play, participants can add optional features to enhance their potential winnings:

  • Power Play: This feature can multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10 times. The 10x multiplier is only available when the advertised jackpot is $150 million or less. The Match 5 prize of $1 million is automatically doubled to $2 million if the Power Play is purchased, regardless of the multiplier drawn.
  • Double Play: Available in select states, this add-on gives players’ numbers a second chance to win in a separate drawing held immediately after the main Powerball drawing. The Double Play drawing has a fixed top cash prize of $10 million.

Odds and Payouts

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338. However, the overall odds of winning any prize are significantly better at approximately 1 in 24.9, with prizes ranging from $4 to the grand prize. Jackpot winners have the choice between receiving their prize as a 30-year graduated annuity or as a one-time, lump-sum cash payment. Both prize options are subject to federal and jurisdictional taxes.

As lottery players look forward to Monday’s drawing, they are reminded to check their tickets carefully and to play responsibly. Tickets for the next drawing can be purchased until the sales cut-off time on Monday evening, which varies by state.
