Powerball Jackpot Hits $1.3B After No Winner Monday

Jackpot Soars to Historic Heights

The Powerball jackpot has climbed to an estimated $1.3 billion after no ticket matched all six numbers in the highly anticipated drawing on Monday, September 1, 2025. The grand prize, which had reached an impressive $1.1 billion, will continue to grow, making the upcoming prize the fifth largest in Powerball history and the ninth largest in U.S. lottery history.

The winning numbers for the Labor Day drawing were the white balls 8, 23, 25, 40, 53 and the red Powerball 5. The Power Play multiplier, which can increase non-jackpot prizes, was 3x.

The next chance for players to win the colossal prize will be on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. A potential winner could choose between the annuitized $1.3 billion prize, paid out in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump-sum cash option estimated at a staggering $589.0 million before taxes.

Monday’s Big Winners

While no one claimed the jackpot, the September 1 drawing produced a dozen tickets worth $1 million or more across the nation. Lottery officials urge all players to check their tickets carefully for one of the nine ways to win.

Two lucky ticket holders, one in Montana and one in North Carolina, matched all five white balls and included the Power Play option, doubling their prize to a cool $2 million each.

Additionally, ten other tickets matched all five white balls to win the standard $1 million prize. These winning tickets were sold in the following states:

  • California
  • Florida
  • Kentucky
  • Massachusetts
  • Michigan
  • New Jersey (2 tickets)
  • New York
  • Pennsylvania
  • Virginia

A Three-Month Climb to a Billion-Dollar Prize

The jackpot has been on a relentless climb for three months. Monday’s drawing was the 40th consecutive drawing since the grand prize was last won on May 31, 2025. In that drawing, a single ticket sold in California claimed a prize worth an estimated $204.5 million, as reported by digitaltrendstoday.com. This year has seen four previous jackpot winners, with grand prizes ranging from $167.3 million to $527 million.

How to Play Powerball

For those looking to try their luck in Wednesday’s massive drawing, participating is simple. Tickets cost $2 per play and are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET.

  • Pick Your Numbers: Players select five numbers from 1 to 69 for the white balls and one number from 1 to 26 for the red Powerball. You can also choose the “Quick Pick” option to have the numbers randomly generated.
  • Add Power Play: For an additional $1 per play, the Power Play feature can multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10 times. The Match 5 prize of $1 million is automatically doubled to $2 million if Power Play is purchased.
  • Consider Double Play: Available in select states, this add-on gives players’ numbers a second chance to win in a separate drawing with a fixed top cash prize of $10 million.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. However, the overall odds of winning any prize are approximately 1 in 24.9. As the jackpot continues to swell, players are reminded to play responsibly.
