Powerball Jackpot Climbs to an Estimated $526 Million After No Winner in Monday’s Drawing

The Powerball jackpot has once again rolled over, climbing to an estimated $526 million after no ticket matched all six numbers in the Monday, August 11, 2025, drawing. The grand prize for the next drawing on Wednesday, August 13, will have a one-time cash value option of approximately $241 million before taxes.

The winning numbers for the Monday night drawing, which had a jackpot of $501 million, were 6, 16, 33, 40, and 62, with the red Powerball number being 2. The Power Play multiplier for the drawing was 2x, doubling the prize for non-jackpot winners who had purchased the add-on feature.

While the top prize remained unclaimed, numerous players across the country secured smaller winnings. According to the California Lottery, there were 86,789 winning tickets sold in that state alone. Among them, two tickets matched four of the five white balls plus the Powerball, each earning a prize of $24,606. Prize amounts in California are pari-mutuel, meaning they vary based on ticket sales and the number of winners, unlike the fixed prizes in other participating states.

For players who opted for the Double Play feature, available in select states for an additional dollar, a separate drawing was held. The winning Double Play numbers were 9, 10, 17, 29, and 65, with the Powerball being 5. This feature offers a second chance to win with the same numbers, with a fixed top prize of $10 million.

The Powerball jackpot has been steadily growing since it was last won on Saturday, May 31, 2025. A single ticket sold in California claimed a $204.5 million prize in that drawing. Since then, a series of rollovers over the past two and a half months has fueled the current jackpot’s impressive size, building excitement among lottery players nationwide.

Powerball is a multi-state lottery game played in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m. ET. To play, participants select five numbers from a pool of 1 to 69 and one red Powerball number from a pool of 1 to 26. Each ticket costs $2 per play.

Players can increase their potential non-jackpot winnings by adding the Power Play option for an extra $1. This feature multiplies prizes by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, or even 10x, depending on the multiplier drawn. The Match 5 prize of $1 million is automatically doubled to $2 million if the Power Play is purchased, regardless of the multiplier. The odds of winning the grand prize are 1 in 292,201,338, though the overall odds of winning any prize are significantly better at approximately 1 in 24.9.

Jackpot winners have the choice between receiving their prize as a 30-year graduated annuity or as a lump-sum cash payment. As lottery players look forward to Wednesday’s drawing, they are reminded to check their tickets carefully and to play responsibly. Tickets for the next drawing can be purchased until the sales cut-off time on Wednesday evening, which varies by state.
