ARC Raiders Expands Frontier with “North Line” Update
Embark Studios has rolled out its first major content update for the extraction shooter ARC Raiders, dubbed “North Line,” which went live on November 13, 2025. This highly anticipated update brings a wealth of new content and significant improvements to the game, following a successful launch that saw it attract over 700,000 players, according to various reports digitaltrendstoday.com. The update materialized globally at 1:30 a.m. PT / 4:30 a.m. ET / 10:30 a.m. CET.
The “North Line” patch arrives approximately two weeks after the game’s market debut, setting the stage for ARC Raiders’ 2025 content roadmap. Embark Studios has expressed its intention to diverge from traditional live-service seasonal roadmaps, opting instead for a more flexible release cadence, with several major updates planned through the end of 2025.
Unlocking the Northern Frontier: Stella Montis
Headlining the “North Line” update is the introduction of a new map, Stella Montis. This frigid and mysterious region, situated north of the debris-strewn Rust Belt, invites Raiders to explore abandoned structures that remain eerily pristine. Its sterile corridors and untouched machinery hint at humanity’s lost ambitions, offering new quests and deeper insights into the game’s post-apocalyptic lore.
Access to Stella Montis, however, is not immediate. Players must first participate in a global community unlock event called “Breaking New Ground,” which commenced on November 13 at 10:30 a.m. CET. This multi-phase event tasks players with pooling essential resources such as Metal Parts, Fabric, Chemicals, Rubber Parts, and Plastic Parts to restore tunnels leading to Stella Montis. Contributions earn players “Merits,” a new event currency that fuels the progression. The timing of Stella Montis’s full unlock is community-driven, promising a memorable debut for the new region. Once unlocked, a limited-time progression track, “Staking Our Claim” (Phase II), will offer personal rewards and challenges until December.
New Threats and Arsenal Additions
The expansion into the northern frontier brings with it new formidable adversaries and powerful tools for Raiders:
- New ARC Enemies:
- Matriarch: A towering and relentless machine, described as making the existing “Queen” enemy look friendly by comparison. It appears under specific map conditions.
- Shredder: An agile ARC specializing in close-quarters combat, exclusively encountered within the Stella Montis region once it opens.
- New Weapons and Gameplay Items:
- Aphelion Rifle
- Energy Burst Battle Rifle
- Trailblazer Grenade
- Seeker Grenade
- Pulse Mine, Deadline Mine, Gas Mine
- New Quests: A variety of new missions themed around the icy Stella Montis region will become available upon its unlock.
Quality-of-Life Improvements and Game Performance
Beyond new content, the “North Line” update (version 1.2.0) also addresses several quality-of-life issues and introduces crucial gameplay adjustments. Notably, Embark Studios implemented a silent update prior to North Line that prioritizes matching duos with duos and trios with trios, significantly improving the matchmaking experience for two-player teams. The developer also reviewed and lowered the prices of in-game cosmetic purchases, with compensation planned for players who bought them at higher prices.
Other significant improvements include:
- Reduced character movement latency to mitigate “desync” issues.
- Fixes for quests that prevented completion and various non-working achievements.
- Reduced delay between shooting and seeing impact effects on targets.
- Corrections for locations where players could fall through terrain across various maps.
- Balance changes to items like Wolfpack, ARC Motion Core, ARC Circuitry, Launcher Ammo, and Spotter Relay.
- Adjustments to XP gain for looting ARC parts and dealing damage.
Looking Ahead: Cold Snap in December
The “North Line” update is just the beginning of ARC Raiders’ ongoing development. Embark Studios has confirmed that the next major update, “Cold Snap,” is slated for release in December 2025. This subsequent patch will introduce the “Flickering Flames” event, a new snowfall Map Condition, and a reset to the Expedition cycle, among other changes. These continuous updates underscore Embark’s commitment to evolving the game without adhering to rigid seasonal structures.
ARC Raiders is currently available for $39.99 USD on PC (via Epic Games Store and Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and NVIDIA GeForce NOW.
