Amari Cooper Comes Full Circle, Signs One-Year Deal to Rejoin Raiders

Veteran wide receiver Amari Cooper is returning to his roots, signing a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. The move, reported on August 25, 2025, marks a homecoming for the 31-year-old, who was originally drafted by the franchise, bringing a seasoned and accomplished presence back to the Silver and Black.

The Raiders selected Cooper with the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. During his initial tenure in Oakland, he quickly established himself as a premier receiver, earning Pro Bowl selections in his first two seasons and posting back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns. He spent three and a half seasons with the team before being traded to the Dallas Cowboys midway through the 2018 season.

Cooper’s career has been a testament to his adaptability and consistent production across multiple teams. His trade to Dallas sparked a significant resurgence, where he recorded two more 1,000-yard seasons and was named to two more Pro Bowls. In March 2022, he was traded to the Cleveland Browns, where he continued to defy expectations. With the Browns, Cooper became the first wide receiver in franchise history to record consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, achieving the feat in 2022 and 2023 and earning his fifth career Pro Bowl selection in the latter.

His most recent stop was a brief but notable stint with the Buffalo Bills. After starting the 2024 season with the Browns for six games, he was traded to the contending Bills. In his combined 2024 campaign, Cooper played in 14 games, totaling 44 receptions for 547 yards and four touchdowns, according to Pro-Football-Reference. His performance was split between six games in Cleveland, where he caught 24 passes for 250 yards and two scores, and eight games in Buffalo, adding 20 catches for 297 yards and two more touchdowns.

Throughout his decorated career, Cooper has proven to be a reliable and dynamic offensive weapon. He recently surpassed a major milestone, eclipsing 10,000 career receiving yards. His career totals now stand at an impressive 711 receptions, 10,033 receiving yards, and 64 touchdowns. This level of sustained excellence is what the Raiders hope to inject into their offense.

While this is Cooper’s second stint with the organization, it will be his first time playing for the team in Las Vegas. He joins a receiving corps looking for a dependable veteran leader to complement its existing talent. The Raiders will look for Cooper to quickly build chemistry with quarterback Geno Smith and re-establish himself as a primary target. The one-year deal provides both parties with a valuable opportunity: for Cooper, a chance to prove he remains a top-tier receiver, and for the Raiders, a low-risk, high-reward addition to bolster their passing attack for the upcoming season. As he dons the silver and black once more, Cooper’s journey has officially come full circle.
