Tyler, the Creator Surprises Fans with New Album ‘Don’t Tap the Glass,’ Releasing July 21

In a swift and unexpected move, Grammy-winning artist Tyler, the Creator has announced a new project titled Don’t Tap the Glass, set to drop on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 6:00 AM EST. This marks his second full-length release in less than a year, following his critically acclaimed Chromakopia, which debuted in October 2024.

The announcement was preceded by a cryptic and engaging promotional campaign that immediately captured the attention of fans. On July 18, 2025, outside his concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, a striking art installation appeared: a large, Tyler-like figure enclosed within a clear box, emblazoned with the words “DON’T TAP THE GLASS.” Digital signage at the arena further directed curious onlookers to the website DontTapTheGlass.com, igniting widespread speculation across social media platforms (Pitchfork, Hypebeast).

The official website itself offers a minimalist yet intriguing experience, featuring an interactive hammer cursor that, when clicked ten times, audibly shatters the glass and plays a teaser for the album. It also presents three distinct directives, hinting at the project’s thematic undertones: “Body Movement. No Sitting Still.”, “Only Speak in Glory. Leave Your Baggage at Home.”, and the titular “Don’t Tap the Glass.”

Accompanying the album announcement, a range of new merchandise, including vinyl records, CDs, and box sets, became available for purchase on the Golf Wang website and DontTapTheGlass.com. All merchandise is slated to ship on the release date, July 21, further solidifying the immediate nature of this surprise drop (Golf Wang).

Amidst the excitement, a fabricated tracklist for Don’t Tap the Glass began circulating online, featuring rumored collaborations with artists like Kendrick Lamar, Earl Sweatshirt, and Lil Wayne. However, Tyler, the Creator swiftly debunked these rumors on social media, stating, “False, None of these people are on this, I did not post this info I don’t know where you got this from to confirm it.” Complex Music, which had initially reshared the unverified list, subsequently deleted their tweet and issued an apology (Complex, HotNewHipHop).

Adding to the anticipation, Tyler also advised fans to temper their expectations for the new release. “yall better get them expectations and hopes down this aint no concept nothing,” he tweeted, suggesting a departure from the intricate conceptual narratives often found in his previous works (HotNewHipHop). This statement has led to speculation that Don’t Tap the Glass might be a more direct, perhaps B-sides-esque, project, similar to CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST: The Estate Sale.

The album’s release comes as Tyler, the Creator continues his extensive Chromakopia: The World Tour, which began in February and is nearing the end of its second North American leg. He is also scheduled to headline major festivals like Lollapalooza and Outside Lands, before heading to the Southern Hemisphere in August and concluding the tour in Asia in September (Pitchfork). His recent feature on Clipse’s Let God Sort Em Out track “P.O.V.” also generated buzz, with Tyler clarifying a lyric about a past legal threat over a feature.

Don’t Tap the Glass, distributed by Columbia Records, is poised to be another significant moment in Tyler, the Creator’s dynamic career, showcasing his continued evolution and penchant for surprising his dedicated fanbase.
