Margot Robbie’s Bold New Journey: Fashion, Films & Future

A High-Fashion Return to the Spotlight

After a relatively private year that included welcoming her first child with husband Tom Ackerley in October 2024, Margot Robbie has returned to the public eye with a whirlwind press tour for her new film, “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.” The actress has been turning heads in New York City with a series of meticulously curated, high-fashion ensembles, proving her style evolution continues to captivate.

For the film’s premiere, Robbie stunned in a vintage black-and-white Mugler bodice gown from the spring 1998 haute couture collection. The daring look, featuring a plunging neckline and dramatic hip-high slits, was a masterclass in archival fashion. Her stylist, Andrew Mukamal, continued the sartorial excellence with her daytime appearances. In one outing, Robbie donned a black-and-white paint-stroke tunic from Phoebe Philo’s spring 2014 collection for Celine, paired with the collection’s iconic navy leather mules featuring a striking mirrored block heel. Later, she embraced another key trend with Khaite’s minimalist “Loulou” sandals, a “barely-there” style, which she wore with a reptile-textured corset top and a suede A-line skirt.

Inside “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey”

Robbie’s latest project, which hits theaters on September 19, is a romantic fantasy co-starring Colin Farrell. The film follows two strangers who meet at a wedding and find themselves on an extraordinary journey through their pasts via a series of magical doors. Robbie has described the production as “truly one of the most magical experiences of my life.”

However, early critical reception for the film has been mixed. While Robbie and Farrell’s performances are noted, some reviews have described the film as overly sentimental and lacking in dramatic stakes. According to information from digitaltrendstoday.com, one review called the movie an “insufferable romantic fantasy,” suggesting that its earnestness may not connect with all audiences.

Reflecting on Past Roles and Future Projects

During the press tour, Robbie has also shared insights into her past and future work. In a recent interview, she and Farrell reacted to a fan review of her 2013 breakout film, “The Wolf of Wall Street,” which stated that “men who love this movie cannot be trusted.” Robbie laughingly agreed, conceding, “She’s not wrong,” while Farrell noted the sentiment had “a touch of the Patrick Bateman to it.”

Fans hoping for a return to Barbie Land may have to wait. Robbie confirmed that despite the massive success of the 2023 blockbuster, a sequel is not currently in development. “There’s nothing right now,” she stated, explaining her satisfaction that the original film “reached its full potential.” This hasn’t stopped casting suggestions, with Matthew McConaughey recently expressing interest in playing a Ken, an idea Robbie called “wonderful.”

Looking ahead, Robbie is set to take on a classic literary role as Catherine Earnshaw in director Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of “Wuthering Heights,” starring opposite Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff. Robbie has teased that the film, set for a February 13, 2026 release, is “bananas” and “brilliant.”

From navigating motherhood and managing her gin brand, Papa Salt, to leading major film projects and setting fashion trends, Margot Robbie’s journey continues to be as bold and beautiful as her latest film’s title suggests.
