The Powerball jackpot has continued its upward climb, reaching an estimated $526 million for the next drawing after no ticket matched all six numbers in the Monday, August 11, 2025, drawing. The new grand prize carries a one-time cash value option of approximately $241 million before taxes.
The winning numbers for Monday night’s drawing were 6, 16, 33, 40, and 62, with the red Powerball number being 2. The Power Play multiplier, an add-on feature that can increase non-jackpot prizes, was 2x. The jackpot for the August 11 drawing stood at an estimated $501 million.
While the top prize went unclaimed, several players across the nation secured substantial winnings. According to the official Powerball website, three tickets sold in New Jersey, Virginia, and Washington matched all five white balls to win the game’s second-tier prize of $1 million each. No tickets won the $2 million Match 5 + Power Play prize.
State-level results also highlighted numerous winners. The California Lottery reported 86,789 winning tickets in the state. Among them, two tickets matched four white balls plus the Powerball, earning prizes of $24,606 each. In California, all lottery prize amounts are pari-mutuel, meaning they vary based on ticket sales and the number of winners, differing from the fixed prizes in other states. Meanwhile, the Texas Lottery announced 36,134 total winners in the state, including three tickets that won $50,000 and one that won $100,000 by utilizing the Power Play option.
The Powerball jackpot has been steadily growing for over two months, consistently rolling over since it was last won on Saturday, May 31, 2025. In that drawing, a single ticket sold in California claimed a prize worth an estimated $204.5 million, according to a report from Digital Trends Today.
Powerball is a multi-state lottery game available in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m. ET. To play, participants select five numbers from a pool of 1 to 69 and one red Powerball number from a pool of 1 to 26. Each ticket costs $2 per play.
Players can add the Power Play option for an additional $1 to multiply non-jackpot winnings. The Match 5 prize of $1 million is automatically doubled to $2 million if Power Play is purchased. For an extra dollar, players in select states can also opt for the Double Play feature, which enters their numbers into a separate drawing with a top cash prize of $10 million. The winning Double Play numbers for August 11 were 9, 10, 17, 29, and 65, with the Powerball being 5.
The odds of winning the grand prize are 1 in 292,201,338, though the overall odds of winning any prize are significantly better at approximately 1 in 24.9. Jackpot winners have the choice between receiving their prize as a 30-year graduated annuity or as a lump-sum cash payment. As lottery players look forward to the next drawing, they are reminded to check their tickets carefully and to play responsibly. The next chance to win the growing jackpot will be on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
