Microsoft has officially announced the first wave of new titles coming to its Xbox Game Pass subscription service for August 2025, promising a diverse collection of games for players on console, PC, and cloud. The lineup is headlined by the arrival of Ubisoft’s 2023 stealth-action title, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and includes several other new additions, key game updates, and member-exclusive perks.
The new additions began rolling out on August 5 with Rain World, a challenging survival platformer available across Cloud, Console, and PC for all Game Pass members. In the game, players navigate a harsh, broken ecosystem as a nomadic slugcat, hunting for survival while avoiding larger predators.
On August 6, a batch of titles will become more widely available as they join the Game Pass Standard tier. These include the sci-fi RPG sequel Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, the snowy multiplayer follow-up Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, the standalone expansion MechWarrior 5: Clans, and the action-packed tower defense game Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap.
The main event for many subscribers will be on August 7, when Assassin’s Creed Mirage joins the library for Ultimate and PC Game Pass members. As detailed by Xbox Wire, the game returns the series to its stealth roots, following the story of Basim, a cunning street thief in ninth-century Baghdad who becomes a Master Assassin.
Further additions this month include a 10-hour early access trial for Madden NFL 26 via EA Play starting August 7. On August 12, the cooperative third-person shooter Aliens: Fireteam Elite returns to the Game Pass library for all subscription tiers. The same day, Ninja Theory is releasing the Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced Edition as a free update for all owners and Game Pass players. This significant update introduces an Xbox Series X performance mode, a ‘Very High’ graphics preset on PC, a new combat challenge mode, and an improved Photo Mode.
PC players can look forward to 9 Kings (Game Preview), a fast-paced roguelike kingdom builder, which arrives on August 14 for Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. Looking towards the end of the month, reports indicate that Gears Of War: Reloaded is slated to launch on August 26.

To make way for these new titles, three games will be leaving the service on August 15. As confirmed by multiple sources including Video Games Chronicle, subscribers will bid farewell to BioWare’s Anthem, Farming Simulator 22, and the critically acclaimed RPG Persona 3 Reload. Players who wish to keep these games in their library can purchase them at a discount of up to 20% before they are removed.
Game Pass Ultimate members will also receive several in-game perks this month, including content for Smite 2, Naraka: Bladepoint, War Thunder, Enlisted, and Call of Duty: Warzone. The new additions and updates continue to bolster the value of the subscription service as Microsoft prepares for its major presence at Gamescom 2025 later this month.
