Barcelona Wraps Up Prolific Asian Tour, Showcasing Attacking Firepower Ahead of New Season

FC Barcelona has concluded its 2025-26 preseason tour of Asia, a high-scoring affair that saw manager Hansi Flick’s squad demonstrate formidable attacking prowess while integrating new talent ahead of their La Liga title defense. The tour, which included stops in Japan and South Korea, served as a crucial period for building match fitness and assessing the team’s readiness for the upcoming campaign.

The Catalan giants kicked off their tour on Sunday, July 27, in Japan, securing a 3-1 victory over J1 League leaders Vissel Kobe. The team then traveled to South Korea for two more fixtures, starting with a thrilling 7-3 win against FC Seoul on Thursday, July 31, at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. The tour wrapped up on Monday, August 4, with a final friendly against Daegu FC, a side that entered the match winless in its last 12 games, making Barcelona the heavy favorites to complete a perfect preseason run.

Throughout the tour, a key focus for manager Hansi Flick, now in his second season, has been to solidify his offensive strategy. While he frequently rotated the squad to give minutes to various players, the attacking trio of Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Raphinha remained a consistent feature, as reported by Digital Trends Today. The team’s offensive output was impressive, netting 10 goals in their first two matches alone. However, the four goals conceded during that same period highlighted potential defensive vulnerabilities that the team will look to address before the competitive season begins.

The tour also marked the first appearances for several new faces, most notably English forward Marcus Rashford, who joined on loan from Manchester United. Rashford’s integration is seen as a key objective for the preseason. His new teammate Raphinha welcomed the added competition, telling Spanish outlet SPORT, “The more competition we have, the better. It means that one helps the other progress, and that is the most important thing if we want to win titles.” Other new signings like Roony Bardghji and goalkeeper Joan García also featured, alongside promising youngsters from the club’s famed La Masia academy, such as Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernandez.

The squad did face some minor fitness concerns. Defender Iñígo Martinez and midfielder Fermín López were unable to complete a recent training session, and first-choice goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen did not travel with the team as he continues his recovery from back surgery.

For fans worldwide, the tour was made highly accessible. After experiencing technical difficulties with a pay-per-view broadcast for the opening match against Vissel Kobe, Sports Illustrated noted that the club decided to stream its final two games against FC Seoul and Daegu FC for free on its official YouTube channel, a move that was widely appreciated by the global fanbase.

With the Asian tour complete, Barcelona will return to Spain to finalize their preparations. Their next match is the traditional Joan Gamper Trophy on August 10, where they will face Italian side Como 1907, now coached by former Barça legend Cesc Fàbregas. Following this final friendly, the Blaugrana will officially begin their 2025-26 La Liga campaign with an away match against Mallorca on August 16, as confirmed on the club’s official website.
