Powerball Jackpot Surges to $426 Million After No Grand Prize Winner

The Powerball jackpot continues its steady climb, now reaching an estimated $426 million for the next drawing on Monday, August 4, 2025. The impressive grand prize comes with a lump-sum cash option of approximately $193.5 million before taxes.

The jackpot rolled over after no ticket managed to match all six numbers in the Saturday, August 2 drawing. The winning numbers for that night were 6, 18, 34, 35, and 36, with the red Powerball number being 2. The Power Play multiplier was 2x. While no one claimed the grand prize, lottery players across the country are advised to check their tickets for smaller-tier winnings. For instance, in Texas alone, three tickets won the $50,000 third-tier prize, with one of those winners using the Power Play option to double their prize to $100,000, according to the Texas Lottery.

This recent rollover continues a trend that began after the last jackpot was won on Saturday, May 31, 2025. A single ticket sold in California claimed a $207 million prize in that drawing. Since then, the jackpot has grown steadily over several weeks. The drawing on Wednesday, July 30, featured a grand prize of $384 million. Although it also resulted in a rollover, one lucky player in Massachusetts matched the five white balls and had the Power Play option, securing a $2 million prize.

How to Play and Prize Information

Powerball drawings are held three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET. The game is played by selecting five numbers from a pool of 1 to 69 and one red Powerball number from a pool of 1 to 26. Each ticket costs $2 per play.

For an additional $1 per play, participants can add the Power Play feature, which multiplies non-jackpot prizes. The multiplier can be 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, or even 10x when the advertised annuity jackpot is $150 million or less. The Match 5 prize of $1 million is automatically doubled to $2 million if the Power Play option is purchased, regardless of the multiplier drawn. Several states, including Colorado and Pennsylvania, also offer a “Double Play” add-on for another $1. This feature enters the player’s numbers into a separate drawing held shortly after the main Powerball drawing, with a fixed top prize of $10 million.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338. However, the overall odds of winning any prize are significantly better at 1 in 24.87, with prizes ranging from $4 to the grand prize. Jackpot winners have the choice between receiving their prize as a 30-year graduated annuity or as a one-time lump-sum payment.

As the jackpot continues to swell, excitement builds for the upcoming drawing. The next chance for players to win big will be on Monday, August 4.
